Saba' 34:50-54
English - Sahih International
(50) Say, "If I should err, I would only err against myself. But if I am guided, it is by what my Lord reveals to me. Indeed, He is Hearing and near."
(51) And if you could see[1] when they are terrified but there is no escape, and they will be seized from a place nearby.
(52) And they will [then] say, "We believe in it!" But how for them will be the taking[1] [of faith] from a place far away?[2]
(53) And they had already disbelieved in it before and would assault[1] the unseen from a place far away.[2]
(54) And prevention will be placed between them and what they desire,[1] as was done with their kind before. Indeed, they were in disquieting doubt [i.e., denial].

(50) Say, “If I am astray, the loss is only mine. And if I am guided, it is ˹only˺ because of what my Lord reveals to me. He is indeed All-Hearing, Ever Near.”
(51) If only you could see when they will be horrified with no escape ˹on Judgment Day˺! And they will be seized from a nearby place.[[ From the place of Judgment to Hell. ]]
(52) They will ˹then˺ cry, “We do ˹now˺ believe in it ˹all˺.” But how could they ˹possibly˺ attain faith from a place so far-off ˹from the world˺,[[ When it is already too late. ]]
(53) while they had already rejected it before, guessing blindly from a place ˹equally˺ far-away ˹from the Hereafter˺?
(54) They will be sealed off from whatever they desire, as was done to their counterparts before. Indeed, they were ˹all˺ in alarming doubt.
English - Mufti Taqi Usmani
(50) Say, “If I go astray, I shall go astray only to my own detriment. And if I follow the right path, it is because of what my Lord reveals to me. Surely He is All-Hearer, Ever-Near.”
(51) And if you could only see when they will be terrified! Then there will be no escape, and they will be seized from a place near at hand.
(52) And they will say, “We believe in Him.” And how can they grasp at it (the faith) from a place (so) far off,
(53) while they had rejected it before, and used to make conjectures from a remote place?
(54) And a barrier will be placed between them and that which they desire, as it will be done with the people of their kind who were before (them). They have been in a perplexing doubt.
